About

About FOREference

An independent technical reference for people planning an indoor golf setup.

FOREference exists because simulator buying decisions are dimensional. A launch monitor that reads beautifully at the range can be useless in a 14-foot garage; a projector that suits a home theater can't fill a 4:3 golf screen from where it has to hang. We built a reference that answers those questions with numbers.

What we publish

  • Product references built from manufacturers' stores and specialist retailers' published specifications, with every figure labelled by source.
  • Room math — depth, width, ceiling clearance, projector throw and screen brightness — calculated the same way for every product, with the formula shown.
  • Like-for-like comparisons and best-of lists that state their qualifying rules and ranking criteria.
  • Planning guides and calculators for room size, ceiling height, projectors and five-year costs.

What we don't do

We don't claim hands-on testing, laboratory measurement, star ratings or ownership we don't have. Where a figure is our own calculation, it says so. Where a seller's listing is our source, it says so. When sources disagree, we show the disagreement.

Who it's for

Homeowners converting garages, basements and spare rooms; golfers comparing launch monitors; instructors and fitters who need to know what is measured and what is calculated; and venues planning commercial bays.
