Soundproofing a golf simulator room

Most simulator noise is the ball striking the screen and the club striking the mat. Absorbing echo and blocking transmission are different jobs.

Where the noise comes from

SourceWhat helps
Ball on screenMulti-layer screens, a screen gap, a soft backing layer
Club on matMats with foam or gel underlayers
Echo in the roomAcoustic panels on side and rear walls, rugs
Sound through walls and floorsMass and decoupling — construction work

Absorption vs isolation

Acoustic foam and panels reduce echo inside the room, which makes it feel quieter, but they don't stop sound reaching the next room. Blocking transmission needs mass (dense drywall), decoupling (resilient channels) and sealed gaps — a construction project.
